Lectins and Glycobiology 　A majority of membrane and secreted proteins are decorated by a variety of sugar residues, and thus called glycoproteins. Glycosylation plays specific roles, including receptors for microorganisms, toxins, and cell-cell interactions. In cancer tissues, glycosylation is profoundly altered, making cancer-specific antigens (biomarkers). 　Determination of these glycosylation patterns is difficult using standard Mass-Spec analysis. GlycoMatrixTM is a new line of products from bioWORLD that utilizes more than 40 affinity-purified lectins functionalized for direct application in clinical microbiology, immunohistochemistry, ELISA, glycoprotein purification, and cancer biomarkers analysis.

Separopore® バイオアフィニティマトリクス

Affinity chromatography is an important tool to purify biological mol- ecules such as enzymes, antibodies, and receptor proteins. The most widely used affinity matrix is based on Sepharose® (beaded form of cross-linked agarose). bioWORLD’s Separopore® is equal to Sepharose® in all physical & chemical properties (see below) but is more economical. Separopore® affinity chromatography combines the size fractionation and binds the target molecules to a specific ligand, followed by liberating the purified molecule from the matrix using a specific competitor.
